The Drupal community is composed primarily of a volunteers. When an effort requires volunteers, a volunteer wrangler needs to determine what needs to be done, determine what skills are required, writes up the tasks to be done, finds volunteers to do them, schedule volunteers as required, provides the resources that the volunteers will need, and thanks them when the tasks are completed.
Demonstrated by: 

A Skilled Volunteer Wrangler should be able to do the following:

  • Determine what volunteer work is required.
  • Determine what skills will be required.
  • Write up the tasks to be done.
  • Get the word out to prospective volunteers (see Marketing).
  • Sign up volunteers for specific tasks.
  • Schedule volunteers if needed.
  • Arrange for the resources and supervision that volunteers will need.

An Expert Volunteer Wrangler should additionally be able to do the following:

  • Create the volunteer wrangling structure to be re-used for future needs (e.g., future events of the same type).
