It would be nice if we can use plupload as a cck field in D7 to upload multiple images to one node.
Is this feature on the roadmap for D7?

Scott J CreditAttribution: Scott J commentedMedia and Media gallery modules allow you to do this in D7.
Are there any others yet?

attiks CreditAttribution: attiks commentedFilefield would be nice to have ;p
Comment #3
sw3b CreditAttribution: sw3b commentedI agree, Media Gallery is nice but it's not a complete solution yet.
Something in CCK like FUpload in D6 would be nicer.
fender-dupe CreditAttribution: fender-dupe commentedso this is not available, it say on home page that it allows to bulk upload with cck
Comment #5
greggles@fender, the 7.x module is very different from the 6.x module so far. I'll update the project page to clarify.
fender-dupe CreditAttribution: fender-dupe commentedI just want that it is possible to select another file in CCK image upload before the first uploaded, and that the upload would start automatically in the background.
Now you have to wait for each image to upload and then you can upload another one. Slow process, why did they make it like that?
And you are saying it is possible to do this with this module, to upload several images at once in multiple cck fields? Can you give me info on how to set this up?
sw3b CreditAttribution: sw3b commentedI also like to know how to do it too ? Is there a way to have a guide on how to make it ? Or maybe just explanation on how to implement it. Thanks
Comment #8
fender-dupe CreditAttribution: fender-dupe commentedI am uploading multiple images to my nodes, and that takes time, it would be easier to just upload images at once

kclarkson CreditAttribution: kclarkson commentedI am also not clear on how to use this module for drupal 7.
Do you need to download libraries to make this work, is it a simple widget type for the field?
A better explanation of how to use this module would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
kclarkson
Comment #15
David_Rothstein CreditAttribution: David_Rothstein commented@kclarkson, did you see the note on the project page (also mentioned in one of the comments above) that says "You only need the 7.x version if another module tells you to download it"?
Examples of Drupal 7 modules where this is used include Media and Media Gallery; not sure if there are any others yet.
But basically, as per that note, the module doesn't really do anything by itself in Drupal 7 (at least not currently). And it's up to the other modules to document if/when/how you need to install it for their use case.

Thanks for the clarification makes total sense now.
The way I read the project page is that you only need to download the module by itself.
You may want to add the text in bold at the top of the page that says, something like "this module does not do anything by itself".
Can't wait to see what people come up with for d7 as I have already tried media gallery and didn't like it so much.
thanks again,

cwkelly3 CreditAttribution: cwkelly3 commentedI would really like this to come to fruition as soon as possible. I am migrating a site from D6 to D7 and have a boatload of images that I would prefer to load en masse instead of one at a time. I have media gallery but have not seen the bulk upload feature. Dave Reid@fender: Then you probably should have done more research and planning.
fender-dupe CreditAttribution: fender-dupe commentedDave are you maintaner of this module too?
I am just dissapoitned, that is all.
justintime CreditAttribution: justintime commented@fender, you're not 'just disappointed', you're just whining; on this thread as well as others. Perhaps you should consider how many people will get emailed your posts before you post them. If the module maintainer were sitting across from you at a table, would you say to their face what you're posting in these issues?
From what I can tell, you've mentioned 'customers' and I have to assume they're paying you. Well, you're a consumer of Drupal modules -- what have you paid back? Help in the issue queues? Cash in the form of a bounty? Code? Documentation? I haven't looked much, but can't find anything at first.
Keep in mind this is a *community*.
Last of all, Dave is right. D7 is production ready, as long as you're using contrib modules that have D7 versions ready. If you're finding out after the fact that the modules aren't ready yet, who's problem is that?
fubhy CreditAttribution: fubhy commented@fender When planning a Drupal site it is YOUR JOB to check wether the modules that you need are available (yet) or not. Your attitude disgusts me. It problaby wouldn't bug me that much if you (in 3!! years of selling Drupal products to your pitiable customers) had paid back just a tiny bit to the community. To me you are just a whining community abuser. Sorry to everyone else if my post here was a bit harsh.

As I heard from vingborg, the mupload module will merged with/integrated to plupload-integration module.
Unfortunately there is also no progress since some days.
It would be very interesting to see it released. I would also invest money.
I think also for others it would remove a ton of work, ya?

entrigan CreditAttribution: entrigan commentedI tested the module in #29. It works although there are errors when removing files. Also from a UI perspective it is a little obtuse, 1) you cannot add more files after clicking upload, 2) the files do not become available in the normal sense until after the form is submitted.
That said, great work.
Fidelix CreditAttribution: Fidelix commentedIt would be nice if the upload started right when I dropped or added the files. And if no Drag & Drop is available, simply clicking on the widget space could open the "File Dialog"

EvanDonovan CreditAttribution: EvanDonovan commentedIt looks like #1139398: Multiple uploads widget for file fields was closed by stating that the module from #29 should be incorporated into this module as a sub-module. However, there is apparently a patch in the queue for this module (#1146562: Handling required files correctly) for 7.x that needs to be committed before that could happen.
Is the reason why that RTBC patch has not been committed that this module is seeking a new maintainer for 7.x? If so is there anyone willing to step up to do so?
EvanDonovan CreditAttribution: EvanDonovan commentedActually disregard what I said earlier in light of #1139398-24: Multiple uploads widget for file fields: "vingborg has the ability to commit but hasn't done it."
vingborg, care to comment?

thaistore CreditAttribution: thaistore commentedomg when will this plugin be ready, hopefully before 2021, i guess drupal 15 has to come out that someting will happen here
THIS IS CRUCIAL MODULE, D7 IS USELESS WITHOUT FILEFIELD MULTI UPLOAD DUDE
Comment #61
webchickHey, thaistore, you need to chill out. Please read http://drupal.org/dcoc, and take it to heart. These kinds of caps-lock-filled, demanding and condescending comments not only create a hostile environment, but they are also NOT the way to persuade volunteers to work on issues you think are important. Things that do help are when you directly put in some elbow grease to help see issues you want to see fixed, fixed. If you're a coder, that means take a stab at a patch. If you're not, that could mean an offer to test results when they're ready, or it could mean helping to fund the maintainer to do it, etc.
Drupal module developers work on code when they can and give away their work for free for others to use. You aren't going to get very far by insulting them for not doing it fast enough for your tastes.
mcfilms CreditAttribution: mcfilms commentedI don't mean to pile on. But I'd just like to add that for every support request or issue, it sure would be nice to see an equal or greater number of offers to help people in the post installation support area. It helps keep the good vibes flowing.
thaistore CreditAttribution: thaistore commentedI would love to help but I am not a coder, I can design and put a drupal site together, I am good @ marketing, sorry, but this module really takes too long, why nobody else continues, I am sure there are many requests
I have to wait like 15 minutes to upload 10 images straight from my camera
Comment #64
pixelsweatshop CreditAttribution: pixelsweatshop commentedthiastore, you don't need to be a "coder" to help out. Do you know how to install Drupal? If so, there are over 13781 people in the forums that do not. If you help out there then that will free up some devs to do what they do best. :)
thaistore CreditAttribution: thaistore commentedyes i have build 20 drupal sites, i help on chat many times, but yes i should help more i guess
Comment #66
slashrsm CreditAttribution: slashrsm commentedThis is not a plupload task itself. It is a field widget implementation that needs to be done to solve this.
There is a similar issue in Media module, that already has some code: http://drupal.org/node/951004
There is also a sandbox that implements bulk-upload upload widget: http://drupal.org/sandbox/pp/1244926
I tested it and it's not working for me ATM, but it is a *really* good foundation for what we need.
If we focus our energy on this things can achieve good results soon IMO!
thaistore CreditAttribution: thaistore commentedis it so hard to do this, how much hours does it take?

SeanA CreditAttribution: SeanA commentedFree Software development does not happen for free, even if it's done by volunteers, unless you consider the volunteers' time spent is worthless. If you want to help development move along faster, send a Paypal donation to the maintainer or offer a bounty to someone to work on a feature.

sam6 CreditAttribution: sam6 commentedYes indeed, Plup works
quitevery well. Thank you for pointing that out.Comment #74
Michael-IDA CreditAttribution: Michael-IDA commentedPlup doesn't work well with files set to private. (At least that's what I think caused it to not be able to display the thumbnails on node/add or full images on the full node display)
Also don't understand why ivanjaros didn't just take over this module, instead of starting another to do the same thing. Oh, helps to read the fine print, "..but currently I don't have time to properly maintain it.." So, I'm guessing neither of these projects is viable.
Bummer,
Sam
Comment #75
sw3b CreditAttribution: sw3b commentedSame for me, plup work but not perfectly with private. Also it does not support multiple upload one image per node.... For me the best solution was in D6 http://drupal.org/project/image_fupload. I hope someone will do a D7 release one day...
mcfilms CreditAttribution: mcfilms commentedI think the real solution for D7 will be to use HTML5 elements. The abstract "recipe" to do this is outlined on:
http://hacks.mozilla.org/2011/01/how-to-develop-a-html5-image-uploader/
and
http://verens.com/2009/12/28/multiple-file-uploads-using-html5/
or even this video explanation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iQWR76bNUY
But it would take someone with more programming chops than I have to "modulize" it.
sw3b CreditAttribution: sw3b commentedI start using this http://drupal.org/sandbox/pyrollo/1256156 and work great. You have to apply those tweak to make it better http://drupal.org/node/1335408.
For know it do what I need!
atlea CreditAttribution: atlea commentedhttp://drupal.org/sandbox/atlea/1414774 is aimed at solving this issue. The project lets Plupload work as a FileFileld Source. The benefit is that it works with regular file and image widgets, imagefield crop, manual crop, and all other widgets compatible with Filefield sources.

axe312 CreditAttribution: axe312 commentedInteresting approach.
There is also another sandbox module with mainly the same functionality: http://drupal.org/sandbox/vingborg/1138512 (just for your information)
Your actual git version isnt working for me. When I upload a file (with pupload) it outputs an error:
'test field is required.' (i set your field as required)
atlea CreditAttribution: atlea commentedaxe312: Thank you for looking at this. I have fixed the "required" issue, thanks for letting me know. :)
slashrsm CreditAttribution: slashrsm commentedI think we can close this, as we'll not add field widget functionality. There were some modules proposed in this issue that can be used instead. I created a list of this modules on project page. Since most of them are sandboxes I hope they're going to be promoted to full projects soon.
