When the Menu Breadcrumb module is active, block/region assignment via admin/build/block malfunctions and will not display the correct theme when choosing themes from the tabs. Regardless of which theme is chosen, the admin theme is always shown.

Disabling the menu_breadcrumb module fixes the problem.

There is an issue logged against core at http://drupal.org/node/281643 that suggests that this behaviour can be caused when a call to theme() is made from within a module's hook_init(). Glancing quickly at the menu_breadcrumb code there doesn't seem to be anything obvious there, but there may be a theme call within one of the various functions called from menu_breadcrumb_init ?

I've just traced the same problem to this module. Going to have a look and see if I can figure out what's going on.

It looks like the problem is way down the drupal_set_breadcrumb rabbithole. Attached is the simplest patch possible to short circuit admin/build/blocks.

Priority:Normal» Major

This issue us still outstanding, and I've just ran into it myself, it really prevents the use of the module, at least at this point in time. I'm going to try james.cartledge's patch from #2, and hopefully that will address the outstanding issue.

@tstackhouse, did it solve the problem for you? If so please review so we can consider this for #1827248: Release co-ordination for Menu Breadcrumb 6.x-1.4 and 7.x-1.4.
