But something that can count distance between two users (this user is connected to you at 4 levels through someone) would be really great (like linkedin does). It can create a powerful trust factor.
I had written some thoughts and various implementation alternates a while ago for 5.x version. Unfortunately those are not available for search anymore otherwise would have have provided link here.

ajayg CreditAttribution: ajayg commentedHere is an old issue which has some discussion. Please note the discussion is generic and not release specific. So the same ideas could be implemented in 6.x or 7.x

ajayg CreditAttribution: ajayg commentedI think the issue discussed here is not just relationship between two nodes, but how they fit overall in the network, how much distance they are from each other etc. It goes beyond the relationship of adjecent nodes. I don't think it it discussed elsewhere (particularly the two above mentioned)

You jumped in assuming the original posters intent from a single line, but as far as I can tell we have no idea what this request actually was.
As always you can create your own feature request that will most likely be ignored along with all the others until someone comes along with a strong enough need to implement it or at least provide a proof of concept. In the meantime I am going to continue to focus my efforts on the scores of known bugs with the current functionality. All new features for 6.x are postponed until that bug list gets to zero.
As for the other places the issues you raised have been discussed:
