Need advice - I would like to move marker to the left side from center, and rename it to "." but unable to find where is initialized :( how I can add icon into this?

Another problem, I move login block to this "secret" area, but it take all place, and I don't know how its possible to divide it into 3 sections (one for login, another for search, and reserved any else) and make login block not vertical but horizontal? Sorry to asking how to do, but you better know you own template :)
