Link field with URL widget isn't working

So I created a link field on a new content type on a D7 site. And I used the URL widget. The content type would accept and save my URL. But when I returned to edit the content, the URL was gone. Since it was a required field, I had to keep pasting the URL into the form.

Basically it's not working.
