Fieldsets aren't rendered with id's (only classes), which results in some unwanted behavior, especially with vertical tabs. With vertical tabs, since there's no id for the field_group fieldsets, the last fieldset added will end up being the default selected fieldset, instead of the first one, which is the desirable behavior.

Are you sure it's a fieldset from fieldgroup? Every fieldset added by fieldgroup, gets an ID.

I had the same problem after a while. I dunno what caused it.
I can only say that there is a 7002 update for fieldgroup now, which will recreate the field group identifiers and thus the html ID's.
Can you tell me if upgrading works for you too?

If this still occurs, it will be related to the missing Identifiers. there are several of them
