I got a message that cron had not run. I attempted to run it manually and got an error 'could not complete your query"

Or you can install poormanscron which is what alot of beginners use. It's not really important until the site is live that cron is running.

On the status report page it says cron has never been run and has a link to run cron manually but when I click the link all I get on a page is a message "could not complete your query"
