I am using Acquia Drupal which allows me to test all the site features prior to loading the site to my server. I have loaded the OpenChurch theme but I am not able to find several of the modules etc. Such as the one for block backgrounds, the homepage rotator etc. I assume that I should have installed the full Open Church distribution and not simply the theme. However I can't figure out where/ how to install it into Acquia Drupal. I am very new at this and would appreciate any help regarding this matter.

You technically could merge the 2 but it doesn't really make sense to. I would advise just downloading OpenChurch which includes the Drupal core files. Only downloading the theme will not work. The easiest way to merge the 2 would be to copy the openchurch profile from profiles to your Acquia install and then to copy everything from OC's sites/all folder to your Acquia installs sites/all folder. Then you would run the openchurch install profile. Hope that helps.
