Hi i'm new to Drupal:)

Ive been thinking of creating my own website for a home business in journalism, and have little knowledge of coding and programming or hosting etc (though I have been trying to learn recently).

So Im basically making an information system, its a web app for smartphones and tablets, but I also want to make a website for regular browsing. I want this website to do two things: 1. be a private enterprise network for my employees to access semantics technology and interfaces designed for them to do their work. 2.act as an archive for all the files the web app publishes that can be accessed by the public.

Since I dont know how any of this should work, I wanted to ask how exactly would my idea for a website be implemented? Can I make both function on one site? Should I just concentrate on one since I'm new? Should the web app itself be part of the hosting service? Or is it something that needs to be hosted somewhere else?
