The actual, visible text of links is another element of the copy that some may want to optimize for.

Hi There,

I'm not sure if I understand correctly but the thing tat is important for a link's anchor text is that it gives information about the link's destination. This is nothing that can be checked programmatically.

No, I think that's fair. I was thinking about instances in which you're linking to your own pages on the same site. But you're right that this wouldn't optimize for the keywords set on that target page.
