hi :)
(drupal 7.4)
.. this is one of my problems with media and media galleries versions.
i have one "running" combination of them on a "playground-dev-site"
but my prob is, how to delete files from gallery? as a admin or
to give a user permissions to do that. but, i can not delete files
as a admin, so a normal user wont be able to do that :)
so how can i delete files?
i tried to delete them by hand, online via ftp - browser,
wont fix it - the gallery shows me an empty quadrat
(no image but the "placeholder")
.. tried .. tried..
using there a combination of media beta5 and media gallery beta6
but dont know why it works on this zen-subtheme and not really
know why i can not get a running version of this combination on
a fresh local installation..
- how can i delete files?
- second important for me:
- - which combination of media and media gallery is working without patches
on a drupal 7.4 - may with colorbox and/or lightbox? tried.... several combinations
... or maybee.. which combination including one or more patches?
is there anybody outthere?
if i can not get it running to use it on sites i have to search for other solutions
to make image and video galleries for someone, so that a logged-in-user can
add or delete images or videos. sthg like image-fields or... dont know,
i made one with more simple some weeks ago, cant remember so
i must look - but, i want to use media and media gallery.
so i wrote here about questions i have, two of them.

kifuzzy CreditAttribution: kifuzzy commentedthis is one backup version of a test site where i trie to install next
the media and media gallery moduls - to get more "understanding"
of it. or having an eye on my working "onlne" version of a site
where i have media beta5 and media beta6 with some more other
moduls running.
try to get a running combiantion of stuff for this basic,
may with colorbox and/or lightbox2:
local machine. clean urls enabled.
and
trying ... nothing works .. reinstalling with the backup .. trying .. ... .. backup ... trying .. backup ...
(backup = mysqldumper plus copying the whole folder(s) of the backuped drupal-files to this msd-file)
clean urls enable/disable - the same
clearing caches, uploading new ones nothing happen (but can see the files in drupal - folders, so they uploaded, but not shown.
"add-media" allways work in the way, files are on the server, but not showing on side.
edit
Apache/2.2.17 (Win32) - PHP/5.3.4

kifuzzy CreditAttribution: kifuzzy commentedin this installation on an shared server online i can
upload images, make youtube "lilnks",
thumbnail works .. only the "lightbox" has a good style, works good.
there i have this:
so - how to find out with which versions i can make working another site, another installation, dont know how to discribe (english isnt the best too, i am german non-english-speaking :-) )
using media beta 5 media gallery beta 6 on the local test site with garland theme - no pictures to see, but "uploading" in files in drupal. or uploading in several.. thumbnail-folders there. but displaying nothing.
this only version allows me to upload / make youtube - but not able to delete files.
the local ... or today, i am going wild .:) cause i cant get it?

David_Rothstein CreditAttribution: David_Rothstein commentedYou have to remove the media item from the gallery it's in before you can delete it. You can do that via the "Remove" link you get when hovering over a thumbnail (if you're using the core Contextual Links module), or by clicking through to view the full-screen version of the image and then clicking on the "Remove" tab (next to the "Edit" tab at the top). Once #1055986: Add a preview sidebar to the media edit screen gets fixed, there will also be a checkbox on the edit screen that lets you remove items from there.
Once the item is removed from all the places that use it, you can delete it from your site entirely from the listing at admin/content/media.
Use the latest official release of the Media Gallery module (7.x-1.0-beta6 at the time I'm writing this). The README.txt file that ships with it will tell you which versions of Media and other modules should be used alongside it.
