I've noticed that a user without the permission "administer nodes" is unable to edit fields in a view even is the user is the owner of the content. Is this a design limitations or is it me that have overlooked something? I'm quite new with this module.

Per https://drupal.org/node/2148735, 6.x is longer maintained so issue is closed. If you wish to be a maintainer of the 6.x branch please create a new issue.
