I set up a View to select particular users and send the a newsletter. When I click send it send me to the confirm page. When I confirm I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function simplenews_send_node() in /home2/isantema/public_html/tangotrattoria/sites/all/modules/simplenews/simplenews_action/simplenews_action.module on line 107

For what you describing, it seems Views Send should eventually be more suited to your needs.
Anyway, regarding the bug itself, simplenews_send_node function is now in the includes/simplenews.mail.inc file (it has moved in the 6.x-2.x branch). Could there be a cache issue ? For example, are you using APC ?
