how to disable

Looks like you just go into that content type and remove the field. If this is not correct someone slap me silly and tell me the correct way.

#1: you're right, that's the way to remove ticks.
This is done on purpose, because removing field is a dangerous and irreversible action, so I didn't want to enable it from the settings screen.

Can not remove the fields and can not uninstall:(

The Beta will not provide which fields its installed on, but the release will. I was able to uninstall it by going back to the release version.
