Especially for sites with active users and many wikis there is a need to make sure that your edits won't be lost, especially with the dreaded "this content has been edited by another user" message when attempting to save your edits. Perhaps a module like http://drupal.org/project/content_lock would be a good start.

japerryThis still isn't in drupal commons 3.x, or core 7.x.. Not sure if we need it though, except for maybe wikis?

rosemeria CreditAttribution: rosemeria commentedThis is definitely needed for wiki's as collaborative documents -- please place on commons 3.6 radar.
Thanks for digging up this issue! I'll install module and do some tests this week.

rosemeria CreditAttribution: rosemeria commentedTested module for use with commons wiki (7.x-3.x-dev Dec 14): Content locking (anti-concurrent editing)
Locking of wiki to stop concurrent editing worked well, notifying messages work but users thought wording a bit unclear.
Installed Module: 7.x-1.4
Configuration: Lockable content type "wiki"
Patch: minor patch: https://drupal.org/node/1936256
Does have bug on Chrome browser, if you leave edit screen and go else where - lock is not released on chrome (works in FF and Safari) - https://drupal.org/node/2145291
