How does one delete only the 'shadow' copy of a post, leaving the post in its new location?
I've skimmed through the code and the database, and am unable to find anything definitive.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

For those interested, look in 'forum_index' with the node id as 'nid'.
However, it would be nice if there was a UI function to take care of this, or some documentation. :)

This is now Postponed. The status is set according to two policies. The Remove a core extension and move it to a contributed project and the Extensions approved for removal policies.
It will be moved to the contributed extension once the Drupal 11 branch is open.
