This module should have a random transition effect and better Pager UI styles.

For random transition:

Structure > Views > Slideshow > Edit

Remove any Sort Criteria. Then add "Global: Random" and save.

Adding "Global: Random" sort criterion fails to address the issue at hand. We need the slideshow to present its contents randomly. We don't want random search results, which is an entirely different effect.

For example, I want to display the 10 most recent articles in a slideshow, but I don't want to start with the same article every time I view the page.

Here's how you do it:

  1. Go to the Edit page for your view slideshow.
  2. Under the "Format" section, look for the "Slideshow" link. Click on the "Settings" link next to it.
  3. Scroll down to the "Cycle options" pane. Inside the pane activate the checkbox for "View Transition Advanced Options".
  4. Under "View Transition Advanced Options", activate the checkbox for "Random".
  5. Save your changes by clcking the "Apply" button and then the "Save" button for the view.

@superkuton, we would really appreciate your input on "better Pager UI styles". Drupal is a community effort, so if you have some ideas, please contribute. Some sample graphics, would be a start. Some new CSS code would be even better.
