The paused text is not changed when pausing or resuming the slideshow in cycle. Additionally, there are at least 2 undocumented options that are currently unavailable to us: http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/pause-callback.html demonstrates the paused and resumed options. We can probably make use of these in conjunction with Drupal.viewsSlideshowControlsText.pause and Drupal.viewsSlideshowControlsText.play to implement text controls.

The text is changing for me. Do you have an example?
We may be able to use those events to replace the hover code. We would still have to keep the onclick event. Wonder if the hover supports hoverintent

P.S. nice to hear from you

Sorry, I had been using an older version of the module. Updating to the latest development release fixes the problem with the text control changing. We still might want to add the advanced options for paused and resumed.
