I am using content profile fields to send data into merge fields on Mailchimp. If I set the widget type to "select list" then the token does not show up in the list so I can't select the field I need. If I change the widget to "text field" then the field shows up.

In my scenario, the users are expected to post their experience level so a list field is necessary. For example they select "I am interested" or "I am a beginning practitioner" or "I am a an experienced practitioner." Any suggestions? I'm about to go take a peek at the code and see if there is a list of widget types that I can just quickly hack for now..

Oh, it looks like this is coming from the token module... Maybe I should be posting this there..

so I have learned a bit more:
It appears the problem is in the implementation of tokens in content profile. They don't let you use any widgets other than text or number. So there is a patch at http://drupal.org/node/1063234 which I found after I modified the code which seems to work ok. There is a more comprehensive solution at http://drupal.org/node/1123030 which may be better.

So I hate hacking a module but until this is solved, what can be done?

“And now our watch [for support of the 6.x version of the MailChimp module] has ended…” With the end of Drupal 6 support, I’m sad to say we too must turn the page.

Fret not! The 7.x-4.x and 8.x versions come highly recommended. Both are using Mailchimp’s new API 3.0 and are being actively maintained. “What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger!”
