Deactivate Colorbox for specific content types

I often find myself wanting to disable Colorbox for most of my content types because I don't need it for them and thus don't want to load the js files.
Would it be a needed feature for other people to be able to deactivate Colorbox per content type or is it just me? I have made some changes to Colorbox to be able to do that and would be glad to share it as a patch if the maintainer feels it's useful enough.
