In order to avoid complaints from people not receiving the newsletter, it would be nice to be able to track the log of unsubscribed email addresses. Is this expected to be there?

Sounds good,but where to put the list.
this would also require a new table in the database.maybe it would be better for another submodule to do this?

This will indeed be a separate module,but will take a while,not high on the priority list for now:)
