Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
When clicking on the titles of the Created and replies columns in the forums, the first click sorts ascending, with the oldest on top.
That means I have to load twice very close to each and every time I want to re-sort the list. I assume that most others also mostly want decending order, and hence are doing the same every time.
This must put quite unnecessary strain on the server in addition to being slightly annoying. (Drupal.org certainly could do with anything that improves performance these fast-growing days...)

Nick Lewis CreditAttribution: Nick Lewis commentedToo my knowledge all sortable tables default to ascending not just the forum (access logs, user admin, etc). It annoys me too. Reassigning to drupal core.

quietone CreditAttribution: quietone at PreviousNext commentedThis about the Forum module, changing component.
Forum is approved for removal. See #1898812: [policy] Deprecate forum module for removal in Drupal 11
This is now Postponed. The status is set according to two policies. The Remove a core extension and move it to a contributed project and the Extensions approved for removal policies.
It will be moved to the contributed extension once the Drupal 11 branch is open.
