The first time I checked the Modules >> Browse by Date section of Drupal.org, I was baffled by the amount of (what I thought were) new modules pouring in - until I realised they were not at all new: by far the most of the "modules-of-the-day" are simply updates.
Wouldn't it make sense to distinguish between Really New Modules on the one hand and updates on the other hand? I'm not so much interested in Update 4.334334 Of Esoteric Module So-And-So, but I would definitely like to have quick access to Really New Modules.

Once asked for a new downloads block
I once asked for the same feature, in the form of a new mods/themes block
