Need help on how to reuse existing Fields within different content types [#1472046]

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this or direct me to a good source to read up on how to reuse existing Fields within different content types.

I have setup content types using different fields and copied these fields also into Structure>Taxonomy>Tags>Manage Fields.

On creating a new content type, I can see 'Add an Existing Field' with 'Field to share' with a drop down box listing all the fields I have created.

I thought by selecting the needed field in 'Field to share' and adding a name = 'label' to it, that it would automatically pull this already coded field from the database and insert it into my new content type, but sadly this isn't the case.

Could somebody direct me on where I could maybe be going wrong? I would be most grateful for any advice or feedback at this time. I have search google and cannot find anything concrete on the matter.

Hi,

I am reading there is a conflict with CKEditor, would this be true for reusing the fields?

Basically, I am wondering can you transfer the code within an existing field to a different content type? or does the field only hold the structure you defined and the actual code won't transfer?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback here :)
