When saving a #ffffff value this doesn't seems to be saved as a field value. This is unexpected when writing a custom field formatter for the field.

I think that the problem comes form you selected None as default value for your field. Then, when you see the Colorpicker field, you see it white, but it has not any value. If you open it and select White (#FFFFFF), it will work fine.
You can also set the default value to #FFFFFF and you color will be well stored.

BetoAveigaWorks as designed but it could print a message that no color has been picked. It's ambiguous.
