I'm testing this module and I miss "advance search" (and, or and not fields) when using the Search by page tab.

Specially if you are going to replace core search with this!

You can still do and/or/not in your search query, since it still uses core search to do the search query. There just isn't a tab there that helps you build the query.

What interests me a lot, is the functionality in "Advanced search" tab from the "original" search - filtering results by Content Types and Taxonomy Terms. Does Search by page tab offer any possibility to filter results according to these or have I misunderstood the concept? (what I'd like is to index e.g. PDF files into the search - which original search doesn't - but with keeping these filtering possibilities).

Btw., using D6 version of Search by Page module.

Title: Advance search » Search filtering by content types and taxonomy

You are correct, the Search by Page module does not have the ability to filter by content type or taxonomy currently. Since it offers to search things other than Node content (which is all the core Search module allows you to search), I'm not sure it even makes sense to filter by node content type or taxonomy though. Anyway, consider the feature requested, but until I figure out what it should do with non-node content, I probably won't implement it.

Thanks for your answer and great explanation - my idea is that as soon as any content type or taxonomy term would be selected, it would search only in nodes. Additional very nice feature would be to search not only in nodes, but also in files attached to matching nodes, what should be optional very useful setting (Example: Node A is of type "Page". It has attached PDF files. When selecting Content Type "Page", it should match search terms inside node A, as well as optionally PDF files attached to Node A).
