Just to correct myself, it looks like hostmaster / provision are the projects for aegir, ( even tough that aegis proxy still exists ) and therefor i guess thats just a grey-area and a valid point in leaving it as is ( i guess so ).

Atrium seems to be dual-published, but links to external sources on d.o ( might be on the grey side either, not my decision )

https://drupal.org/project/aegir this is not actually a project, but an alias created through path_redirect. Not sure why and by whome. As you've said, the code is on drupal.org, in real projects.

There is a release there which seems quite current, so the situation is just as I suggested to you: Developent off-site, releases on-site.
