If I am setting a default taxonomy term for each of the generated nodes, then that taxonomy term has to exist already, otherwise upon generating nodes a bunch of duplicate terms will be created as separate entities.
Let's say for 10 files, I add the default terms, "surfing, scenery", neither of the terms existing in my taxonomy. I can end up with 10 nodes, node 1 referencing taxonomy id 1 for surfing, 2 for scenery, node 2 with tax id's 3 for surfing and 4 for scenery, and so on. I will have 10 surfing terms all with different id's and 10 scenery terms all with different id's.
