When creating a webform and enabling it to use AJAX it simply does not save the option, nor does it give a reason for not saving.

Could you please detail ? I can't reproduce that bug (of course : such a bug would be immediately spotted).
Did you get errors when installing the module ?
Can you please check error reports at admin/reports/dblog ?
Thank you,
David

eduardo.flores CreditAttribution: eduardo.flores commentedI have the same issue, I've installed the module and on the webform I enabled the use of AJAX and saved it, it shows the message "The form settings have been updated." but the AJAX checkbox is still disabled.
On the dblog there are no errors, it only says the module was installed and enabled.
We're using Drupal 7.9 and Webform 7.x-3.15

David Stosik CreditAttribution: David Stosik commentedYou need Webform's latest version, as some generic saving component has been implemented in 3.17.
See #1471460: A fix for "@FIXME can't we think of a lighter way than saving the whole node?" .
chadpeppers, could you please check your versions please ?
David

Also in Webform AJAX project page.
And once more just below:
You need to use a version of Webform greater or equal to 3.17.
