Hi,

The search box is only visible when logged in as administrator. The search bar disappears otherwise (even when normal users are logged in).

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? As far as I know, I have not modified any php files or templates.

I am sorry but I got what I was doing wrong. I had disabled normal users from searching the site.
Administer -> User Management -> Permissions and set the Search Content permission
