Troubleshooting custom widget [#1532530]

When I enabled the custom widget in the CTI Flex theme the search box doesn't seem to autocomplete at all. The throbber does not appear in the search box and nothing happens when I begin to type. The Drupal widget does work (with some CSS to tweak it to that theme).

I would like the functionality of the custom widget and I was hoping you could tell me where I should begin to look to make this happen for the chosen theme.

Oh yes - thought it was a few days ago but just noticed its a year! Ive got two search fields in my block now so still debugging - if you go through the patches in that post you may find a solution that works for you...
