I understand that the user relationship permissions titles and descriptions have been mulled over a few times ( #1115998: Revamp core and UI permissions, #1104598: Rethink Permissions and Visibility of relationships , #1099406: Convert role permissions settings into permissions) but I found the "Have" and "Maintain" permissions under "User Relationships" on the admin/people/permissions page to be confusing. It is my understanding that the "Have" permission actually means that the role is allowed to be the requestee of a relationship. For example, if a relationship type is intended to be only one-way from Role A to Role B, then Role A should be allowed the "Request" permission but not the "Have" permission, while Role B should be allowed the "Have" permission but not the "Request" permission.
