Bug? Menu option for in-page (regular) Menu Tabs? [#1553432]

When creating a (regular) Menu Tab, there now is a required option to choose a menu to associate the tab. These should be in-page (view page) tabs, so why is that an option at all? That option does not exist for Default Menu Tab.

In researching this, I watched a screencast about creating menu tabs (Views 3) and that option did not exist. Don't get this. It seems superfluous, yet it is required. No logical selection (except for "normal menu" items.)

MY USE CASE:
I am creating page displays within the "core" Taxonomy Term view -- a content view.

taxonomy/term (parent; "already exists")
taxonomy/term/overview [default tab]
taxonomy/term/dining [menu tab]
taxonomy/term/accommodations [menu tab]
...

PROBLEM:
No tabs are showing on the page. Could be other issues, but I certainly don't know what I am to select for associated menu, since that isn't applicable for the views tabs.

I do have my view working. But, would still appreciate clarification about the menu association option on the views menu tab config.

I'm having this trouble too. I can't add the menu tabs now even though I think I've done it right.

The menu tabs are a nightmare -- at least when working with dynamic views (e.g., Taxonomy Term page, Geolocations page). Can't set a custom view as Default Tab without it then being "overwritten" by the parent page/view, which is always and "all" behavior.

Have no idea how that mysterious menu option on Menu Tab config might be thwarting my progress.

I just got visibility of a menu tab on a node at /node/%/docs using a page view.
Menu is set to Tab, name "docs".
The actual Menu selected is "Administrators" - a menu I created not for public view.
When I view a node now I see "Docs" tab.
However in Home › Administration › Structure › Menus › there are no entries in "Administrators" menu.

Could it be this is a redundant feature, or is ignored in this use case?

I know how frustrating it can be to get the tabs working. I have had success getting them to work -- just not perfectly. I'd be happy to try to help anyone one-on-one, if you'd like to skype.
