Bottled Water

BottledWater.org is the website of the International Bottled Water Association. IBWA's member companies include U.S. and international bottlers, distributors, and suppliers. IBWA unifies the bottled water industry and represents uncompromising commitment to the safety and availability of bottled water worldwide.

Our website http://www.bottledwater.org was built on Drupal 7.

Why Drupal was chosen: 

We originally chose Drupal with the first launch of the website in 2008 because Drupal was the award winning open source PHP content management system. Since then, we have watched Drupal ignite and the community of support has grown as well as the quality of what is being released. The Drupal sites are growing in both complexity and popularity and serving more users everyday. When we redesigned the bottledwater.org website it was a no-brainer to migrate from our D6 site to D7.

Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome): 

HTML5 and CSS3

It was four years ago when the last website was launched. We decided that the time was right for creating an HTML5 and CSS3 website. The site has been designed to gracefully degrade for browsers that are not yet supporting the new standards.

Responsive

Thinking mobile first led us to create a responsive design that breaks down for tablet and mobile device users. The site will automatically adjust its media elements as well giving the user the same great content that a normal desktop experience would offer.

Views

This site utilizes views for several types of different content. The flexibility of views allowed us to create custom looking views and offer powerful presentations of rich content.

Community

This site serves nearly 1000 members of the Bottled Water Industry. These member companies can login and manage relations between us as well as fellow association members, get educated on Industry practices, register for events, etc.

The Build

The sites theme was both designed and built by an agency (Capital Results). They performed usability testing based on targeted personas that we provided. Card sorting, and user observations were used to generate a high level of usability for our targeted users. It took about 4 months to build and migrate from our previous Drupal 6 site.

These are just a few of the many modules we used. Views was an obvious need as we display much of our content. We also have many videos that we have developed over the course of the last few years so the video embed field module was essential for us to display all of our videos.

Because we are a community or member based website the need to restricting access and redirecting specific users to a specific page was necessary.
