sun#1605324: Configuration system cleanup and rearchitecture removes the synchronization methods entirely for now.
That is, because not a single one of them is used anywhere, and not even #1447686: Allow importing and synchronizing configuration when files are updated attempts to use them.
Not knowing of this existing issue, we've created #1624580: Research and implement a proper design for StorageDispatcher as a follow-up to the first instantiation issue. Shall we mark this issue here as duplicate of that one?
