I receive the "You have to specify a valid date" Drupal error message if I set
$form['author']['#access'] = FALSE;
for a particular role.
With the Date Popup Authored module disabled, I am able to successfully set the above #access to FALSE without receiving this error.

Mark TrappThis is a duplicate of #1090164: Date Popup Authored does not play nice when $form['authored']['#access'] is modified too late: see my comment at #1090164-3: Date Popup Authored does not play nice when $form['authored']['#access'] is modified too late for what's going on. I'm reopening that issue because there are things you can do to work around it and things I can do to make it happen less often.
