Took a lot of trial and error, as well as digging through the issue queue to figure out how to use this module, since it's vastly different than the d6 version.

It would be really great if there were a documentation page, a README file, descriptions or instructions on the input fields, or any kind of example anywhere.

Well, the D7 version is broken.
try out the following:
#1140896: Variable $row does not contain correct values ($data->_field_data does)
#1516348: How to call the value of field within a node so that Views PHP can do its magic.

The links to a couple of issues says it all regarding the quality of documentation. Unless you like playing detective this module is probably not for you. It's a terrible shame that all the effort gone into making this really useful module has been spoilt by the lack of a few pages of step by step instructions.
