Did you try Publish Content module? Your module seems like a duplicate. Could you state on the project page the differences between the two modules?

I tried Publish content, it is nice, but it did not match my needs - I just wanted buttons, not tabs.

Based on http://drupal.org/dcoc#collaboration it seem that the Publish Button module instead could be rolled into a feature request for Publish Content such that an option to publish a node could be rendered as a button or a tab. That would accommodate your needs and also leverage the existing inertia of Publish Content.

The button has been added to publish content in this commit: http://drupalcode.org/project/publishcontent.git/commit/3126701. Might want to join forces then :)
