It also looks like you didn't disable the admin menu so both admin menu and toolbar module are enabled (see the screenshot).

Note that the distro is meant for you to use to create a multilingual site and is *not* set up as a multilingual site (except that it has the modules downloaded with it so you can enable them easily). It is a companion distro for my book so you can have an quick environment to go through the book exercises.
