Moderation for DrupalSib

I am going to approve this group if the name change happens. Like the activity and from the marketplace I know that there is a good community out there.

I've changed the name and approved the Group.

csandanov has changed the name back so I guess we'll have to discuss this.

Agreed on the Needs Work. Problem is, I'm not sure the group organizer(s) realize their group is currently in moderation and not visible, because they continue to post new content in it even as of last week. What to do about that?

Has anyone invited the group owners to participate in this discussion? If not, we should do that.

So the previous group owner asked for an ownership change, but none of the owners asked for the group to be moderated, which makes this a little complicated. Usually groups don't get moderated until the group owner asks for moderation. That way we're not moderating groups with no members and rejecting them for being inactive before they have a chance to get started. That wasn't really intended for groups to stay unapproved forever, but I'm not sure it's really a problem if groups what to do that, and it seems like maybe this group does.

Now that we have a moderation issue, it looks like we're not approving the group because the name includes "Drupal". Is that a policy? I don't see it mentioned in the guidelines at http://groups.drupal.org/guidelines-for-forming-new-groups

We have several already-approved groups with "Drupal" in the name, e.g.:

https://groups.drupal.org/drupal-wyoming

Some of those have Drupal in the name but not the URL path, while others have it in both. And those are only geographic groups. There are also groups like http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-jobs or http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-for-good where it's hard to imagine the name without "Drupal".

I think maybe we should have a policy about using the word "Drupal" in group names, but we need to define it and document it before we apply it to a group moderation, especially a moderation that wasn't requested. Meanwhile, I think we should either set this to postponed or approve the group for now (assuming the name is the only concern) and revisit it along with the other relevant groups after we have a clear policy.

csandanov, can you share your thoughts on changing the group name from "DrupalSib" to something like "Siberia"?

We already have legal entity, it's officially named DrupalSib (Russian ДрупалСиб)

Well, all we want is just popularize Drupal in Siberia and throughout Russia, how can we do it without using word "Drupal"?
I can try to write a mail to Dries, ask to his agreement, but I already tried to do the same regarding our commercial brand DrupalJedi (https://www.drupal.org/marketplace/drupaljedi) and he didn't responded.

For the record: I am fine with the name "DrupalSib".

Okay, I approved the group. I still think the name could be improved, but that can always happen outside moderation.
