As per the README.txt, it was possible to set the default group audience by setting a gids_node[] parameter. This is not possible anymore in 7.x-2.x.

It's a matter of taste, I understand the "another module", on the other hand it removed OG specific code in favor of Entity reference specific.

The patch currently only removes the old help, can you add a few lines redirecting users to er-prepupalte?
