Hello,

I'd like to know how to install the geos library within a windows environment? I've had a good look for some instructions as i'm not a developer, however as the screenshot shows I havn't been able to install the library.

I'm not sure what next to do. http://trac.osgeo.org/geos/ lists geos-3.3.5.tar.bz2, which i've downloaded and extracted to libraries folder (not put dll file in php dir as i'm not sure i'm on the right path).

The instructions listed on https://github.com/phayes/geoPHP/wiki/GEOS are for unix environment.

Do I need to download http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ for windows ? and if so how does this integrate with drupal?

Many thanks and many apologies for many questions!

Phil

Hi Phil,

Getting GEOS compiled and installed in a windows environment likely requires developer level skills. The closest I could find was a blog post here: http://mateusz.loskot.net/projects/geos/, that lists how to compile GEOS with Visual C++.

I'm not entirely sure installing GEOS would be worth it for you. Are you running a windows production environment? Are you working with lots of polygon or line data?

I'm not working with lots of polygon or line data, so i'll leave it.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply though, your clarification is much appreciated.
