In another issue #1690744: Update signup on g.d.o, it became clear that authenticated members without additional admin roles are unable to view the revisions of events. If "view revisions" are indeed enabled for authenticated members, this is a bug.

At the moment, no further development is done on groups.drupal.org, except to migrate it to drupal.org. Once the migration is done, this issue can be reviewed to verify new permissions should be given to users.
