[No Demo Store] Only one variation shows up on the product page [#1715024]

I installed using no demo content, then, from the products listing page, added a product (display). I added two variations. One blue/small, one large/green, both have images. Only the first variation shows up, and using the color selector doesn't change the variation display. The size selector only shows one size, even though there are two variations.

Confirmed that changing the order of the variations will lead to displaying a different variation (the first one in the list, as opposed to the first one uploaded)

I now understand that the relationship of variations to pictures is 1:n, so ignore the bit about the pictures not showing up. The bug still remains that the color variations and size variations don't seem to work properly.
