Cannot use Media:Flickr when allow_url_fopen is OFF on server

Hello,
When I try to use Media:Flickr:

Warning: simplexml_load_file() [function.simplexml-load-file]: http:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0 en _media_retrieve_xml()

Something similar happens on Media:Youtube (Issue on Media:Youtube) and Media:Vimeo (Issue on Media:Vimeo)
On Media:Youtube there is a patch that solve the problem on #57

I solved it talking with the server administation and they enable the allow_url_open directive. Now the module works.
Anyway is a security issue because of the potential problems that leaving this php directive on can give.
