I was experimenting with private files and on one occasion I changed the default method to private. This prevented all the default (supplied by the profile) images in the media browser from appearing. I set it back to public but the images we still gone. The images still appear in Apps though. I know that changing the default download method will have large impact on installed sites. So should we prevent the administrator from changing this setting at all?

Perhaps this belongs to the Apps queue somehow.

P.S.: rc3 installed perfectly with Aegir/Apache :-)

Glad to year rc3 is installing smoothly on Aegir.

Re download method, can you clarify just what images aren't coming through? I don't know a lot about the ramifications of toggling on and off the private download method.

The are two places I see images out of the box (after the Media Apps is enabled):

  • The Apps page
  • The Media Browser pages

After setting the download method to private and back to public, the images remain in the Apps page but disappear from the Media Browser pages.

If you can't reproduce (I would understand this having low priority but it's still a "gotcha"), I will give it another shot taking notes as I attempt it.

This doesn't sound like an Open Outreach issue per se, but I don't know where exactly it belongs... I'd strongly hesitate to freeze the download method in Open Outreach. Closing for now but please feel free to reopen and move to a different queue.
