Recent Content View

I'm just building my first "OpenChurch" site for a client. I am used to having a "recent content" view (usually my home page) with Articles, Events, etc. Most of my clients like to post both written texts for sermons or other kinds of teaching articles and have them show up in the "recent content" view as teasers.
In your vision of the OpenChurch schema, should I just create a Content Type (Article) for any teaching content and build a "Recent Content" view? I would like to have the View match the Events View for consistency.
I don't want to work at cross-purposes with your roadmap (:-) just Cross purposes!) Various teaching content formats reach different audiences and my clients tend to post what the pastor likes to provide (texts) or what their techs are willing to record (audio or video).
