Moving image fields from taxonomy tagged nodes into Node Gallery

Anyone know how I can do this? I have a literally thousands of image fields organized by taxonomy tagged nodes that I'm hoping to import into Node Gallery but translate the taxonomy gallery terms into Node Galleries instead. I tried to understand the migrate module but it's way beyond me. Maybe there is a module that can do it? Or some simple php?
