Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
The homepage currently displays a count of accounts on drupal.org as
874,081 people in 228 countries* speaking 181 languages power Drupal.
The number of "people" is really the number of user accounts on drupal.org that have been logged in once and that are not blocked.
This numer probably has a fair amount of profile spammers in it.
I propose to switch the number to computed from the amount of users who have the "trusted user" role. Currently, this would be about 70k users, ie less than 10% of the current amount.
I am open to using other metrics as well.

jredding CreditAttribution: jredding commentedThis may be a good time to reposition ourselves, perhaps saying something like:
"1M downloads this year, built by an active community of over 70,000 contributors"

joshuamiWe've removed the homepage statistics for now.
We have some additional conversations that have started in the content strategy that should help us build some ideas about possible stats to show.
